Peugeot is one of the best-known French bicycle brands and has shaped the history of European cycling for many decades. The road bikes from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, in particular, are now highly sought after by enthusiasts of classic bicycles.

A characteristic feature of many vintage Peugeot racing bikes is their slender steel frames, elegant French styling and a riding position that is both sporty and comfortable. Depending on the model, high-quality frame tubes and components from French or international manufacturers were used.

Many cyclists appreciate Peugeot road bikes not only for their historical value, but also for their comfortable ride. A carefully maintained Peugeot road bike is ideal for leisurely rides, historic cycling events or as a stylish bike for everyday use.

As every vintage racing bike has its own history, specifications and patina, our Peugeot bikes are always unique, one-off pieces.

Over the decades, Peugeot has produced numerous ranges of road bikes to suit a variety of needs. The range extended from sports bikes suitable for everyday use to high-quality competition models.

Well-known historical models and ranges include, amongst others, the Peugeot PX-10, PR-10 and PH-10, as well as various models from the Competition, Course and Tourisme series. However, the specifications and frame material can vary significantly depending on the year of manufacture, country of production and specific version.

Some models were made using lightweight steel tubing from Reynolds or Vitus, whilst others were fitted with more robust steel frames for leisure and everyday use. There are also numerous variations in terms of gear systems, brakes and wheels.

On the individual product pages, you will therefore find detailed information on:

  • Frame size
  • Frame material
  • Gear selection and gear ratio
  • Brakes and wheels
  • Genuine parts and reconditioned components
  • Condition and workshop work carried out

This allows you to assess each Peugeot vintage road bike individually and compare it with other available models.

Before a vintage Peugeot road bike is put on sale at Joli Vélo, we carefully check its technical and visual condition. Our aim is to preserve the bike’s historical identity as far as possible, whilst ensuring it remains reliable to ride.

Depending on the condition of the vehicle, the workshop work may include, amongst other things:

  • Inspection of the frame and fork
  • Checking and adjusting the brakes
  • Checking the gears, chain and sprockets
  • Checking the wheels and spoke tension
  • Maintenance of hubs, bottom brackets and headset
  • Replacement of tyres, inner tubes, cables or brake pads
  • Cleaning and careful refurbishment of the components

Not every bicycle is fully restored. Well-preserved original parts and an authentic patina are retained wherever possible. However, wear parts or safety-critical components are replaced where necessary to ensure reliable use.

The work actually carried out is described as transparently as possible on the relevant product page.

Vintage road bikes are one-off pieces. As a result, certain frame sizes, colours or models may only be available from time to time.

If there isn’t currently a suitable Peugeot road bike available in the shop, you can:

  • check out our latest arrival of bikes on a regular basis
  • keep you informed about upcoming restoration projects
  • Let us know your preferred frame size and which model you’d like
  • similar French road bikes from Motobécane, Mercier or Gitane discover

Even bikes that have already been sold can give you an idea of the models, colours and specifications available. However, we cannot guarantee that the same model will be available again.
